Magnelis® combines the most important properties in just one coating: corrosion resistance is up to ten times better than with galvanised steel. The material offers optimum resistance in particularly rough, harsh environments. What’s more, it is a competitively priced alternative to batch galvanising.
Magnelis® is available with a huge range of steel grades: steels for cold forming and deep drawing, structural steels and high-strength low-alloy steels. As the Magnelis® metallic coating has excellent adhesion, the metal can be processed and formed in every conceivable manner.
It is used in the most varied industrial applications – load-bearing structural members, decks of multi-storey car parks, noise insulation boards, hail protection walls or for the safety and protective equipment used on roads and railways.
Although Magnelis® is manufactured on a classic industrial hot dip galvanising line, it is dipped in a special molten bath. It contains a special metallic chemical composition of zinc with 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium. This 3% magnesium is crucial: it ensures a durable and resistant layer on the entire surface thus offering more effective corrosion protection than coatings with a lower magnesium content.
Compared to batch galvanised products and even compared to high-quality products such as stainless steel or aluminium, Magnelis® offers a distinct advantage: depending on the environment, Magnelis® has a coating weight which is two to four times lower while at the same time offering better corrosion resistance.
