Frankfurt (Oder), 19 June 2013 – The Investor Centre Ostbrandenburg was invited to the Eastern European Conference, which was held under the theme "A common economy without borders”. 145 participants from Germany, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States were represented.
The aim of the conference was to present development fields and growth potential which could intensify economic cooperation between German companies in Eastern Europe and vice versa, the chances of cooperation Eastern European companies with Western Europe companies, particularly at Brandenburg-western Poland location.
Matthieu Jehl, CEO of ArcelorMittal in Eisenhüttenstadt, reported the close connection with the neighbouring countries: "These countries are important markets to us regarding raw material supply and sales of our products. For instance, we purchase our coke from Poland and coal from Russia. Another essential factor is the exchange of experience and experts with our ArcelorMittal plants in Eastern Europe. Finally, it is the specialists who have decisive influence on our success“.
The day before the conference, attendants could already get an impression on the industrial capacity in the region through two plant visits at Eisenhüttenstadt. In the integrated metallurgical site of ArcelorMittal and the paper mill of Progroup AG, more than 40 interested entrepreneurs got to know the regional industrial opportunities.
