ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt

As part of its corporate strategy, ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt, because of its technical competence and economic potential as well as its favourable geographic and logistical position, is forming a commercial interface to the developing markets of Eastern Europe. The company specialises in high-quality flat carbon steel.

ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt is a steel company with a lot of tradition. In the early 1950s, the Eisenhüttenkombinat Ost (Iron and Steel Works Combine East – EKO) was built on the Germany-Poland border. During subsequent decades, EKO became the metallurgy centre for the German Democratic Republic. After its successful transformation into the market economy beginning in 1990, the company developed into a flat carbon steel producer, providing a complete metallurgical processing cycle at that location. Today, high-quality steel is produced from ore there in an integrated steelworks utilising modern facilities in a closed supply chain.
